Coprosma robusta (kāramū) is a fast-growing New Zealand native shrub or small tree in the Rubiaceae family, typically reaching 2-3 metres tall with a dense, rounded form, glossy bright green leaves, and small greenish flowers followed by clusters of orange to red berries that are highly attractive to birds; it is widely used in native restoration, hedging, and shelter planting, and thrives in full sun to partial shade in a wide range of well-drained soils, with excellent tolerance of wind, frost, drought, and coastal conditions once established.
