Dianella nigra is a hardy, flax-like native with long, narrow green leaves growing in clumps, a moderate growth rate, and small star-shaped pale blue to white flowers that develop into striking metallic blue berries, and once established it tolerates light to moderate frost as well as periods of drought, though it grows best with some moisture.
