Pachystegia insignis, commonly known as the Marlborough rock daisy, is a striking evergreen New Zealand native shrub admired for its large leathery silver-green leaves and showy white daisy flowers with bright yellow centres. Naturally found growing on rocky limestone cliffs in the Marlborough region, it is highly tolerant of drought, wind, coastal exposure, and poor soils. Flowering mainly from spring through summer, it attracts pollinators and adds bold texture to native, coastal, and low-maintenance gardens. It grows best in full sun with free-draining soil and is especially suited to dry, exposed sites.
