Ceanothus 'Yankee Point' (Californian Lilac ‘Yankee Point’), family Rhamnaceae, is a low-growing, spreading evergreen shrub valued for its dense, groundcover habit and masses of vibrant blue flowers. It typically grows around 0.5–1 m tall while spreading 2–3 m wide, forming a broad, cascading mound that is ideal for banks, retaining walls, and large-scale groundcover. Originating from California, it is well suited to mild coastal climates and performs well in New Zealand gardens. Growth rate is fast, quickly covering ground and suppressing weeds once established. In spring, it produces abundant clusters of bright blue flowers that create a striking display and attract pollinators. It prefers full sun and free-draining soil, is highly tolerant of drought and coastal exposure, and performs best in sheltered sites protected from heavy frost and poorly drained conditions.
